- Walter Kupec and Thomas Plank will join the senior management of Generali CEE Holding.
Prague/Vienna - Generali Austria will become a leading market of the Central and Eastern Europe Region with effect from 1 January 2018. The new regional structure will not only reflect the strong historical ties that exist between the countries in the region, but it will also take account of the key role that Austria played when Generali returned to the region in 1989.
In the Generali Group’s existing regional structure, Austria is a part of the EMEA Region (Europe, the Middle East and Africa). Now, the CEE Regional Office will be responsible for eleven countries in which the Generali Group had more than 16,000 employees and posted premium income of €6 billion in 2016. Since 2013, the office has been led by Luciano Cirinà as CEE Regional Officer and CEO of Generali CEE Holding B.V., whose headquarters are in Prague.
Luciano Cirinà commented: “The new regional structure will create new opportunities both for Austria and the ten countries that are already part of this region. Now, we will be able to implement new developments across borders to benefit our customer base that currently stands at nearly 15 million people. This move will ultimately support us in reaching our Group’s goal of a ‘Simpler, Smarter. Faster’ strategy.”
Austria will be represented by two members on Generali CEE Holding’s Executive Committee. Alongside their roles as members of the management board and extended management team in Austria, they will also be members of Generali CEE Holding’s Executive Committee, where Walter Kupec will serve as CEE Chief Insurance Officer and Thomas Plank will be CEE Chief Operations Officer.
Former Governor of the Czech National Bank, Miroslav Singer, who is currently Director for Institutional Affairs and Chief Economist at Generali CEE Holding as well as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Česká pojišťovna, will join the Executive Committee of Generali CEE Holding as of 1 January 2018. László Ilics-keeping his current role at Generali Hungary-will be another new member of the Executive Committee taking responsibility as CEE Chief Distribution Officer.
